Consider whether either of these sounds familiar

Scenario One

You wake up, you rush through a morning routine that consists of sleepwalking through getting ready, and on the best days grabbing a quick bite and most definitely some caffeine. Then you speed to work or class, already feeling behind and you haven’t even gotten to your first commitment of the day.

You get through the commitments of the day. Perhaps you do the bare minimum to get by. You get home, drained, with little energy to do… anything but what you must. Perhaps you play some show, a movie, some videos, believing that it is rest. But if you’re honest, when you get to the end of the day, you don’t feel relaxed, not…really. You go to sleep wondering where you went wrong, or maybe you know exactly where, but you don’t know how to fix it.

The days feel like they’re slipping by you, passion is a concept so deeply buried you barely recognize it. You see other people’s lives and they seem to have it all together, they seem to be living your dreams, but you don’t know how to establish and maintain the structure to help you get there. You might even recognize that for you, it’s not so much about doing the right things, but there’s something deeper under the surface, some mindsets and patterns that are keeping you stuck.

Scenario Two

Perhaps you’re on the other end of the spectrum. As the sun kisses your cheek in the morning -that is if you don’t rise before it has a chance to- you are jumping on the hamster wheel and running. You feel like there is little to no time for yourself throughout the day. Your lunch breaks are more of a suggestion than a part of the routine you savor. Often you eat your lunch with one hand and do your work with the other.

You leave work much later than is healthy for you, and you arrive home exhausted, with barely enough energy to take care of yourself. Much less to engage in any hobbies or hang out with friends. You eat your dinner and either you’re still thinking about work in the background or trying to drown out the chatter with some other preferable noise.

You look forward to the weekend but it is an illusion. You crash-land into Saturday, too exhausted to do all the weekend things. You get through it, adding only but a few drops to your cup, and then Monday rolls around in full force. You are hanging on, but you’re not living. You feel you are slowly, but surely, approaching burnout, if you’re not already there.

Scenario Three

Both of the previous scenarios apply to you to some extent

I’ve been on both sides of the pendulum, I see you

I struggled through these things for years. There was a time of such toxic productivity in my life that I would feel like I’d conquered Everest if I got a mere 6 hours of sleep. My average was 4-5. I had no hobbies except watching the same 3 shows over and over again. I had absolutely no idea who I was outside of my work. My worth was tied to my work, my accomplishments, my grades, and my standing in school. At the end of almost three years of this cycle, the demands decreased, I did not have as much work and I had no clue what to do with the extra time. So at first, I chose to go beyond above and beyond, to an unhealthy degree. I was trying to do everything more effectively, more efficiently. And I do mean everything. I once looked up strategies to shower faster because I wanted to be more productive. I tell you! I had no idea what true rest was, even less so how to implement it, and I didn’t know I had permission to!

After some time, I refocused all of this energy I had been putting on simple productivity and placed it on self-improvement. From the frying pan to the fire. I was constantly trying to fix myself. At the same time, I was so burned outthat I constantly felt unproductive, like I wasn’t measuring up or wasn’t good enough. I entered this other cycle of procrastinating until the last minute, feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders, trying to tackle it all, somehow get it done mostly to my satisfaction, and then repeat. It was exhausting, absolutely exhausting.

But then…

Within the past six years, I began to learn and research healthy productivity, which is inseparable from rest.

I went to therapy which addressed some of the mindsets I had surrounding my self-perception and worth.

I learned to detach my identity from my work and accomplishments.

I learned about grace, began to receive it, and learned how to also extend it to myself.

I learned about the gift that rest is.

I learned it is not only a necessity but our birthright.

I learned about the many forms rest can take, and how to implement it.

I became consciously aware of my values in general and as they relate to work, and began to prioritize them relentlessly.

I began to mentally give up control of what was not within my control.

I began to address the things in my upbringing and past that led to unhealthy behaviors and habits around productivity and rest.

I began to discover and rediscover the things I love to do.

I began to make time to engage in hobbies and creativity.

I began to view the beauty in this world, the beauty in art.

I began to learn who I am, deep down, who I was created to be.

I began to love that person and let me be myself, even as I learn and grow.

This is beyond work-life balance, it is about creating balance in every area of your life, it’s about filling your cups so that you may be able to fill others, it’s about not letting the days leave you and instead living your days.

Maybe you have also been on both sides and are tired of either or both of the cycles. I notice that the first scenario usually is a direct response to the second, from one level of intensity to another, but in the opposite direction. Your body, your mind, and your emotions are trying to find some balance, but they’re, for now misguided.

I found that at the root of both of these issues, is a lack of balance, and that lack of balance is further rooted in a lack of proper rest. I don’t mean just sleeping 8 hours, simply doing nothing, or consuming some media when you have free time. I mean there’s a lack of understanding of the integral impact that intentional rest has in every area of our lives. There's a lack of understanding as to what rest is not just in general for some people, but for you, specifically. There is a lack of knowledge as to how to practically live this out and create a life you can actually sustain, one that can adapt with you from season to season, without leaving you burned out or discouraged even when life gets hard.

Learning to rest healthily and intentionally, has permeated and improved every single aspect of my life. It is one of the things that got me through my 9-5 even at its most stressful. So my goal is to teach you everything I’ve learned as is relevant to your specific situation and where you are in life right now. I hope to extend to you all of the tools I’ve picked up along the way and all the ones I’ve created for myself. I hope to support you encourage you in your journey, and celebrate you as you transform your life and live more intentionally.

When we work together, by the end of the program, you should see the following changes in your life:

  • Increased self-awareness as to what areas of your life are out of balance

  • An understanding of what true rest is and what it can look like

  • An understanding of the importance of intentional rest in all aspects of your life

  • An increased awareness of your values and how to prioritize them as you organize your time

  • Tools to identify what areas of your life are coming out of balance

  • Tools to adjust your time and implement intentional rest how and where needed

  • Tools to better organize your tasks and your time in a way that you’re honoring your values, long-term goals

  • You will either get back in touch with the hobbies you used to love and wish you engaged in more, or will discover new ones.

  • You’ll have a clearer idea of what you want your life to look like in the long term and will begin taking steps to get closer to that.

  • As a side effect, you should get to know yourself better and develop a better relationship with yourself.

  • You’ll create systems to decrease stress and overwhelm in your life and will have tools to navigate stress and overwhelm better when it happens

  • You will consistently experience nourishing rest.

Want to give coaching a try?

You might be genuinely considering coaching since you've made it this far. If you're new to coaching, it's totally normal to want to dip your toes in before committing to a full program. I get it and encourage it! That's why I'm offering a free coaching session with me.

To get started, just complete the coaching application below and select the complimentary coaching session option. Make sure to fill out the application as thoroughly as possible, as if you were applying for the full program. This will help me personalize the session to your needs and make sure you get the most out of our time together.

Our session will be tailored to your responses, although it won't be as comprehensive as the full program. We'll focus on one or two goals, depending on their scope, and work through them during our time together. While you'll get a good sense of what coaching with me is like, keep in mind that this free session won't mirror or replace the first session of the full program, which is designed to lay the groundwork for three months of work. However, we'll still make the most of our hour and address your goals as deeply as possible.

Once you submit your completed application, I'll review it and send you an email within 72 hours to schedule our call. I'm so looking forward to working with you!
